Acosta's wide vocal range lets him adapt with
ease from Neil Diamond to Ricky Martin to Michael
Crawford. But Acosta doesn't stop with straight
vocal impressions - he dreams up a number of scenarios,
including a hilarious numbers in which Dean Martin
croons with Willie Nelson or Gandhi becomes Elvis.
His voice most suited to jazz and soul, Acosta
is at his best when he sings in the voices of Lou
Rawls, Louis Armstrong and Nat King Cole, styles
which are practically in Acosta's blood - the son
of a minister, the performer grew up in New Orleans
singing in his church's choir.
The height of Acosta's creativity is his spin
on "The Twelve Days of Christmas." Using
a method he calls vocal chasing (one voice rapidly
becoming another), Acosta becomes a different celebrity
in each verse, including Ray Charles, Garth Brooks,
Austin Powers and a perky Ross Perot.
